Dental Exams and Cleanings
Bi-annual dental exams allow Dr. Fitzgerald and our hygienists to catch dental problems before they worsen and require invasive and costly treatment. Every aspect of your teeth, mouth and gums will be examined during your dental exam. An oral cancer screening will also be performed. Your teeth will then be thoroughly cleaned using special instruments that remove plaque and tartar, including build-up that forms at the gum line, which cannot be removed easily with at-home brushing and flossing.
Digital X-Rays
Digital X-rays are one of the most sophisticated diagnostic tools available at our practice. Dr. Fitzgerald prefers to use digital X-rays as they use less radiation than traditional X-rays, and the results appear almost instantly on a computer monitor in our exam rooms. Having digital X-rays in high resolution and available chairside allows us to better explain to you any dental issues you may have and ways to treat them.
Bite Adjustment
A well aligned and fully functioning bite is essential for good oral health, and proper chewing and speaking. Dr. Fitzgerald uses digital X-rays and other sophisticated diagnostic tools to diagnose bite problems and recommend an appropriate course of treatment. Minor bite problems may be a result of old or worn out dental fillings that must be replaced. Or, they can be caused by damaged or missing teeth that can be treated with an array of dental restorations, including crowns and dental implants. More extensive bite problems may require orthodontic treatment.
